0dayZero Security researcher Alexander Somin has discovered a vulnerability in Windows that could allow local privilege escalation. The CVE-2018-0800 vulnerability exists within the Windows Update Service of Windows. Somin reportedly found the bug in a remote code execution vulnerability (CVE-2018-0800) within the Windows Update Service for Windows 10.

Microsoft has released Security Update MS17-017 to address a memory corruption vulnerability (CVE-2017-0377) in the Windows kernel-mode components that could lead to arbitrary code execution if a specially crafted application makes calls the Windows Import Address Table (IAT) functions.
