WRC is unquestionably the most intense off-road driving game to come along in a very long time. The problem with the peripherals is that they don’t do much to help. Instead of a proper slant of the rear wheels, they lift the rear end of the car up, and forward-thrusting spoilers provide some lateral force, but drive force, in the form of as much torque as possible, is the most useful force to have. The sensation of each wheel off the ground is spot-on and true to the vehicle’s handling characteristics. I would really appreciate a Switch analog stick or trigger on my steering wheel, or at least the bumpers to make it feel more like a rally car.

WRC is the official simulation of the brand new FIA World Rally Championship – the most famous international off-road racing series worldwide. There are seven different classes (seven chassis, not different classes) of rallies in the simulation, featuring a total of over 4000 km of routes and different terrains graphics. You can drive at any time and weather conditions (hot or cold, sunny or cloudy, snowy, calm, stormy) and experience the real feeling of the race by yourself, or with your teammates in co-op mode (one to four players can be selected in this mode).

WRC stars the most experienced rally drivers of the past and present: Sebastien Loeb, Tommi Mäkinen, Sébastien Ogier, Carlos Sainz, Dani Sordo, Mikko Hirvonen, and Jari-Matti Latvala. This year’s roster will be confirmed in due course – it’s our biggest Year 10 ever and we’re only now finalizing the teams available. We aim to bring a lot of historical teams to life and to do this we need to bring the actual equipment to the players. This is a huge endeavor, but one we’re excited about and absolutely key to delivering the cars as well as the experience as we envisage.
